I have a pretty cool job...

Yesterday, I pretended to be a Wimpy Kid to celebrate the publication of the 8th book in this series.

Then, today I made a bulletin board that makes me laugh.

I
I run a bookclub with 5 awesome readers and we made postcards which we sent to Kate Klise, the author of the book we read, who then sent me an email and a signed poster thanking us!

Then the next week we made graveyards and then ate them.

Now I have to go spend a lot of money buying children's and young adult books... aww, shucks!

Gingerbread House

Isn't everyone decorating gingerbread houses that they bought after Christmas 11 months ago at the beginning of November?

Because we did...

It was fun and still tasted good.

I now endorse Ikea gingerbread house kits!  Get one this holiday season.  They keep well!

Fall

Hello Fall, you are beautiful and I missed you.

Sisters weekend

These two instantly get along which I love to see.  Sophia will be shy of me for a little bit but not Reese.  Bedtimes were a little painful but that was expected.  Also, Sophia will talk your ear off!

I was called into work on Saturday so I sadly missed most of the day with the girls but thankfully my dad was there to stay with them.

I cannot wait to have Sophia visit more often!

Hooray for Family Day

I cannot believe it has been a year since our adoption was finalized.  It has been a big year for us.  I cannot believe how far we've come and how much Reese has grown.

I took off the day so we could spend time together and celebrate our family day!

We started out with pancakes at Rosie's on the square in downtown Noblesville.

Reese was a doll and everyone there was fawning over her.

We stopped by The Wild, a children's book and toy store on the square that we love.  Then, we stopped at the post office and the hallmark store.

Next, we stopped into Conner Prairie (I love being members) and were surprised to find that the outside area was still open because they had some field trips.  We spent most of our time watching a woman cook at the inn.  We had a soft pretzel with cheese for lunch then played inside at the discovery enter for a while.

When I count my blessings, I count you twice.

With a rain storm the night of Halloween, we were able to take a nap and eat dinner then get ready for trick or treating.  It worked out perfectly.  Reese could not make up her mind on what to be until she saw that I had picked up some face paint, then it was a vampire for sure.

We headed over to a neighborhood by our apartments where Reese hit about ten houses and then called it.  We were in the middle of a block when she said "okay, I'm done" and that was it.  She jumped on piggyback and off we went.

She thought she hit the jack pot!

That night my dad and Sophia drove in to spend the weekend with us so really this day could not have been any better!  It is going to be hard to top this one.

Halloween Fun

Both Reese and I had come down with some kind of sickness that was taking its toll on me but I couldn't miss out on the Halloween fun!

We attended Octoboo at the Hamilton East Public Library where Reese was able to trick-or-treat around the library, get her face painted, do crafts, listen to stories and a puppet show.

Of course, we carved pumpkins.

And I was there too!

Reese drew the faces and I did the cutting.  Not too shabby!

For the actual day, I was missing my Phoenix friends terribly.

The Children's staff dressed up to celebrate the 75th anniversary of The Wizard of Oz.  The only other staff member to dress up was Zack, a page, who was a ghost-buster.

Trick or Treating was pushed back a day because of a rain storm that came through Halloween Night.
