I made a very hard decision last week to take a job in Tipton, Indiana. I have vey mixed emotions about he move. Leaving Phoenix is terrifying but being the head of youth services at a public library was just a job that I couldn't pass up. With being closer to family as a bonus. So the packing begins...

Weekend Fun
Kari and her little ones drove into Phoenix on Thursday. They stayed with Karen and Bob for a couple nights and then they came to stay with us on Saturday night. The kids played so well together. I think every toy in our whole house was touched. Kari and I were able to talk and catch up.
It was beautiful outside so we were able to eat outside then we went to Zoyo for some frozen yogurt.
Bedtime was not the easiest. Reese made Genny cry and then had to go sleep in my bed which then all of a sudden she didn't want to do. They were all overly exhausted.
They left Sunday morning because Kari had a big drive ahead of her. Reese felt bad for the things she said to Genny so she drew this picture. Left to Right it is Genny, Reese, Glenn, Thomas, Kari and me. Love it!
Sunday after naptime (which we both needed horribly), we went to play at the Wazny's house. Reese went in for a drink of water and came out a bunny!
Then Char became a giant.

Passport
After not the most enjoyable experience at the Social Security Office this week to make sure that is updated post-adoption, we are ready to send in Reese's passport application. We had pictures taken and the application is filled out. Now we just have to find a day when I can pull her out of school to take it in. Maybe the beginning of next week. It's all happening!

Weekend fun
This weekend was the last weekend without visitors for quite some time so Reese and I did a lot just the two of us. We started out by heading down to the Museum during the First Friday Artwalk to check out Arts and Flowers, which is a yearly event at the Museum when florists create arrangements inspired by artwork in the Museum's collection. Reese really liked it once she figured out what to expect :)
Saturday we went to see Oz, The Great and Powerful at the movie theater (because I wanted to) and then we went to the Poisoned Pen to see a local author of cozy mysteries that I like (because I wanted to and Reese needs to understand that we are going to be going to things like this). She was just happy that we got popcorn and an icee at the movies and that I let her pick out a Halloween book at the bookstore.
We played outside and Reese made mud pies!
And we flew her kite!
We cut out and taped together a crown and wand that came in a package from Mimmie.
Sunday morning we went to church. The first time since epiphany so I decided that we go quarterly. She did a great job so we picked up donuts on the way to Target, where we spent way too much, like always.
I love that little tongue sticking out!

Reese Quotes
You know those big black bugs that fly around like bees but I'm unsure what they really are. Well to Reese they are "biggle bees." I think someone at school must have called it a "big ol' bee" but she heard "biggle bee" so that is what she has been calling them. I giggle every time.
The other day Reese was playing in the shower and I heard her say "How many times do I have to say it?" And I held my breath to hear what was coming next. She continued, " Mirror, mirror, on the wall. Who's the fairest one of all?"

Book Quote
A friend of mine gave me a Bibliomystery, which are a series of short mysteries focused on books, produced by the Mysterious Bookshop in New York City. It is call The Book Thing by Laura Lippman. The two quotes from it below really stuck out to me and I didn't want to forget them. The second quote is pretty much every night at our house...
What did it mean to be out of print in a world where books could live inside devices, glowing like captured genies, desperate to get back out in the world and grant people's wishes?
"Three tonight," Tess said. "Pick out three. Only three, Carla Scout. One, two, three. You may have three." They read five.

Slow Down
I keep having dreams that I am driving a car but I can't get the breaks to work or I cannot slow down. They are awful and I know that it is just me doing it to myself. I saw this quote today and thought I should put it here as a reminder.
"Be soft. Do not let the world make you hard. Do not let pain make you hate. Do not let the bitterness steal your sweetness. Take pride that even though the rest of the world may disagree, you still believe it to be a beautiful place."
-Kurt Vonnegut
Reese Quote
I had to be at work from 8:30am to 8:30pm yesterday which did not leave much time to me to spend with Reese. I was able to pick her up from school and get her settled at home with Aunt Karen before heading back to work but it meant that this morning, I could not have loved her more. She walked into my bedroom with her blanket wrapped around her and said "look at my beautiful dress!"
I got her some breakfast and gave her a gummy vitamin to eat. She brought it to me and said "Why do I eat these?"
I responded "Because they have vitamins inside that help you to grow big and strong."
"I don't see any in there." she said as she looked at the gummy very closely.
"Wait, are they those little circles? You know, I've got pretty good eyes."

Reese Quote
We stopped at the public library on our way to dinner with the Gierman's the other night and I always get a bit nervous about what is going to come out of her mouth there because there is every walk of life possible. There was a man from my old neighborhood who obviously was a member of the ashram. He wore a white turban and had a long beard. So, Reese starts to talk and I cringe. She says "Mom, he looks like a wise-man!" It was honestly the best thing she could have possibly said.

Easter
Easter 2013
Reese slept in so I was up and ready when she got up.
So excited to find the bucket waiting for her to fill with the eggs that she found.
Then she found her Easter basket!
And all the eggs which she then had to open and sort the contents.
She couldnt' believe that Aunt Emily was there! I picked her up from the airport after Reese was asleep. Aunt Allison stayed the night too!
She found hair clips that had fake colorful hair attached and was super excited!
Then we headed to Aunt Karen and Uncle Bob's house, where we played with the barbies that she brought, had a wonderful brunch then hit up the pool. Somehow that was the first time I had ever been swimming with her at Aunt Karen's pool. It was fun but exhausting.
When we were back from the pool, Aunt Emily found her barbies and American Girl things in the garage. Reese had a great time playing with Emily's Kirsten doll, which makes me so excited to try to find my Molly doll this summer to share with her.
It was very hard for us to leave but we had to come back to reality. It was a great holiday. I'm so glad we were able to spend it with Emily and Allison.
Happy Easter!
Playdates
On Friday, Amy came to the rescue again when she watched Reese because she was off for Good Friday but I still had to work. When I got off from work, I picked up dinnder and went over to color eggs with the girls. The girls played outside for a minute after dinner so they were sweaty and didn't want to ruin their dresses so the girls colored eggs in their underwear.
Saturday morning, Reese had a playdate with Nicolette from her class. Those two have been asking for a playdate for as long as I can remember so I am glad we were able to have Nicolette and her mother over for a couple hours. The girls had a great time!
