Natural History Museum

On Saturday morning Reese and I were ready for the long weekend ahead.  We took a trip to get some new library books then drove out to Mesa to visit the Arizona Natural History Museum.  Reese had been twice on field trips but I had not every been before.

We parked by Humpty Dumpty so, of course, we had to take a picture with him before we went in.

Reese took me straight to the replica of the Mesa Territory Jail but then was too scared to go in.  She made me carry her through and then there was a replica of a mine, that was dark so she was scared in there too.  Even the dinosaurs where we went next scared her a little.  She always talks about her field trips and never mentioned it being scary but I guess it is a different ball-game when you don't have twenty other pre-schoolers running around with you.

We saw the flood happen by the dinosaurs and then found this awesome thing to ride.

Panning for gold.  It was hot out there and a little crowded.  I just looked at the baggie we brought home and it has two little bits of gold but mostly sand and rocks.  Maybe we will try this again next time.

We really had a good time at the Natural History Museum.  We stopped at a McDonalds for lunch afterwards and Reese ate really well.  I let her play in the play area and our day took a turn for the worse.  Ears were turned off so Reese lost her television and Wazny privileges for the day.  It was unfortunate but we were in need of pulling in boundaries again and reestablishing how the world works for the two of us.  I think we will visit the Museum again but maybe pack a picnic lunch for at the park next time.
